Twenty two years ago I worked three part time jobs to buy my first electric guitar, a Taiwanese SG copy! A month later, I put a hotter bridge pickup in it (a Carvin humbucker). Still later, I used my father’s tools to scallop the fretboard from the 10th to the 22nd fret, it was the 80’s after all….
Continuing on, I learned all the basics from set-ups to fret work and how to repair cracks etc. from the repair guys at a local music shop where I worked. With that knowledge, I took things a step further by reading and experimenting on my own guitars of which I’ve owned quite a few.
Before I was out of high school, I was assembling and modifying guitars for friends out of whatever we could afford at the time or make ourselves. Everyone remembers shop class right?
Over the years since then, I have regularly performed various mods and repairs as a hobby with fantastic results. I have continued to learn more and more about every aspect of a guitar’s sound and performance. So with my experience, lots of compliments and encouragement, and an absolute love of guitars and music, I started
